Why We Show Our Clients the Messy Middle

Agencies usually hide their work until the 'big reveal.' We do the opposite. Here is why radical transparency builds better digital products.

The 'Big Reveal' is Broken

The traditional agency model operates like a magician's trick. The agency takes the brief, disappears behind a curtain for four weeks, and then emerges to present a polished, pixel-perfect deck to the client.

This 'Big Reveal' is theatrical, impressive, and deeply flawed.

If the agency misunderstood a nuance of the client's business model, four weeks of work have been wasted. The client feels nervous, the agency feels defensive, and the project timeline implodes.

Embracing the Messy Middle

At Vedonyx, we actively invite our clients into the chaos of the creative process.

  • Shared Figma Workspaces: We don't export PDFs. We invite clients directly into our working Figma files. They can see the artboards, the discarded concepts, and the messy ideation process.
  • Weekly Co-Creation: We host weekly syncs where we actively design *with* the client on the call, moving pixels and testing ideas in real-time.
  • Ugly Prototypes: We put unstyled, wireframe prototypes into the client's hands as early as week two. We want them clicking buttons before we care about colors.

The Psychology of Co-Ownership

When you hide your work, you present the client with a finished artifact to judge. It creates an adversarial dynamic: 'Do I approve or reject this?'

When you build in the open, the client watches the product evolve. They understand why certain design decisions were made because they were part of the conversation that led to them. By the time the final product is ready, there is no need for a dramatic reveal, because the client already feels a deep sense of co-ownership over the work.

Radical transparency isn't just a buzzword; it is a risk mitigation strategy.
